According to the reports more than 40 percent of parents giving their children under age 4 cough medicine or multi-symptom cough and cold medicine




In 2008, the federal Food and Drug Administration stated a report that medicines not be used in infants and children under age 2. In response to this report manufacturers of these medicines make a note that this medicine cannot be used for the child below two years.

Side effects of using the cough and cold medicines in young children may include allergic reactions, increased or uneven heart rate, drowsiness or sleeplessness, slow and shallow breathing, confusion or hallucinations, convulsions, nausea and constipation.
  
Doctors are suggesting that parents must and should consult the doctor if the young children are affected from any disease. Doctor checks the baby and advice the medicine dosage without doing any harm to the child.

Preventing the child without affecting from any disease is the responsibility of the parents by following some simple tips like keeps the house clean without any impurities, cleanliness of food is very important in the case of children, surrounding must be clean.
